SETAC – South Etobicoke Transit Action Committee

SETAC Policy Positions

Our policy positions as of September 2023 are as follows:

  1. SETAC supports the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) recommendations, and believes that the recommendations should stay finalized, with a quick timeline as possible to expedite improved streetcar service. The only exception is that SETAC believes the streetcar loop should have a second layover bay added to mitigate against streetcar bunching at the loop.
  2. SETAC supports streetcar-only lane enforcement on the King Street Crosstown Streetcar corridor, used by 504 King and 508 Lakeshore rush hour streetcars.
  3. SETAC supports a similar streetcar-only lane implementation on Queen Street West, as the 501 streetcar is a major route into town for many in South Etobicoke.
  4. SETAC supports 10 minute or better frequent surface transit service in south Etobicoke, including 501 Queen streetcar.
  5. SETAC supports 9xx Rocket Express routes.
  6. SETAC supports dedicated bus lane expansion, like on Eglinton East, and planned for Jane and other major routes.
